Image Background: Salina, Kansas was the official take-off point of The Flight for the Human Spirit. Standing on the site of the Schilling Air Force Base it is known for long runways and a convenient central location for fuel stops.
Several days before the take-off, Michael took one last test flight in order to make sure that all of the technological systems on-board Hope One were functional. The flight was a simple turn in the pattern as the winds were forecast to rise within the hour. As Combs taxied in this photo the winds had already shifted and increased in intensity.
This painting captures the moment of anticipation as The Flight for the Human Spirit was deemed ready to begin. It is painted with digital pastels which blend the blue Kansas sky with the lush fields surrounding the airport. The detailed logo and custom striping are drawn with a fine point pencil and offer a great rendering of this now historical aircraft.
This 5"X7" piece of art is printed individually on high quality glossy photo paper in a process that is overseen by Michael personally to assure that the color and quality meets his own artistic standards. It is hand signed, then mounted in an 8”X10” matte that can then be framed and proudly displayed. (Note: Matte Color may not match the photo displayed). The title of the piece is hand written on the matte with a fine point pen giving it a personal touch that is perfect for giving or keeping for a lifetime.
